Veterinary Diagnostics in Lake Oswego
A Closer Look at Your Pet’s Health
Our pets can’t communicate with us in a way that we can understand, which means that trying to understand what’s wrong with our pet can be frustrating and difficult. At Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic, we can interpret what your pet is trying to tell you by using the latest technology in veterinary diagnostics. Though we don’t speak dog or cat fluently, there are tools like laboratory testing and radiological imaging that can give us a better look at your pet’s health. Ultimately, that means we can diagnose your pet more quickly, getting them treatment faster.
Diagnostic testing at our clinic isn’t just for when your pet is feeling sick. Our Lake Oswego veterinary team will use the same diagnostic techniques during your pet’s regular wellness exams as a way of understanding your pet’s health when they’re healthy. This helps us to more quickly identify if or when things change in your pet’s health, again allowing us to diagnose and then treat your pet faster.

Diagnostic Services at Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic
We are proud to use the latest diagnostic technology to help us get your pets treated faster. We have an in-house laboratory as well as both X-ray and ultrasound equipment on site. This helps us get results back to you faster! All of these tools allow our Lake Oswego veterinary team see what’s happening beyond your pet’s fur without taking any invasive measures.
Our in-house laboratory can conduct the following tests:
- Fecal checks
The above list is just a small sample of our on-site abilities. We may recommend other tests that aren’t listed above but could help us diagnose your pet.
Unlike traditional radiological imaging, digital radiology doesn’t rely on film to get a clear picture of your pet’s insides. In fact, the images produced by the latest digital radiology equipment is much clearer and faster than traditional methods.
X-rays are one form of diagnostic radiology that we use. X-rays use electromagnetic radiation to take images of the dense tissues inside of your pet, like bones and muscles. The benefit of the digital radiology we use at Lake Grove Veterinary Clinic is that your pet is exposed to a much lower dose of radiation than with traditional X-ray methods. Digital X-rays produce highly detailed, still images. Because these are still images, pets may need to be sedated in order to get a clear picture.
Ultrasounds are another form of diagnostic radiology we use. Ultrasounds do not use radiation to create an image, rather, they use high frequency sound waves to provide real-time images of the soft tissues inside your pet, like organs. Because these images are moving in real time, your pet can be awake for the imaging.
